Description

Built for AV techs, sound engineers, and touring crews who need clean audio from microphone to mixer, this balanced XLR to XLR microphone cable carries signal without picking up noise from the rig around it. Wired to the standard 3-pin XLR layout, it works straight out of the bag with mics, mixing consoles, DI boxes, and powered speakers.

Unlike DMX cable, which runs at 110Ω for digital lighting control, this XLR microphone cable is built to the 50 to 75Ω impedance audio gear actually expects. With 22AWG oxygen-free copper, a 95% braided shield, and 24k gold-plated XLR connectors, signal stays clean from short 1m XLR cable patches all the way through to long 20m FOH lines.

Choose the Right XLR Cable Length

Pick a length based on the distance between your mic, source, and mixer:

  • 0.5m–1.5m, rack patches, mic splits, and short desktop runs
  • 2m–3m, monitor feeds, mic to stand, console to outboard
  • 6m–10m, standard stage runs, mic to FOH return, studio session lines
  • 15m–20m, long FOH throws, large-stage mic lines, install runs

Clear heat shrink at each end takes a marker pen, so every XLR lead stays sorted between gigs. Designed in Brisbane, built for the way live audio actually gets used.

FAQs

Is this a balanced XLR cable?

Yes. This is a balanced 3-pin XLR cable, designed to reject noise and interference across the cable run. It's suited to professional audio use where signal integrity matters.

What's the difference between an XLR microphone cable and a DMX cable?

Both use a 3-pin XLR connector, which is why an XLR cord and a DMX cable get confused. Mic cable runs at audio impedance (around 50 to 75Ω) and is built for analogue audio. DMX cable is built to a 110Ω characteristic impedance for digital lighting control. Audio gear works fine on either, but lighting fixtures will flicker or drop bytes if you run DMX over mic cable, especially over longer runs.

Will this work with my microphone, mixer, and powered speakers?

Yes. The 3-pin XLR connector is the standard fitment used by virtually all dynamic and condenser microphones, mixing consoles, DI boxes, audio interfaces, and powered speakers. Plug it in and it works.

What length of XLR cord should I choose?

Use 0.5m to 1.5m for rack patches and mic splits, 2m to 3m for short stage runs and monitor feeds, 6m to 10m for standard stage and studio use, and 15m to 20m for long FOH lines, snake feeds, and install runs. Always allow a little extra for routing around stands and stage edges.

Is this XLR cable suitable for outdoor use?

The jacket is rated to -20°C and handles temporary outdoor use under cover. It is not IP-rated, so keep it out of direct rain and avoid permanent outdoor installation. For festival and outdoor work, keep cable runs and connections dry.

Do XLR connectors stay securely connected during a show?

Yes. The standard XLR latch clip locks the male connector into the female housing, so it won't pull out under cable tension. To unplug, press the release tab on the female connector body.

What's the warranty on this cable?

This cable is covered by a 5-Year manufacturers’ warranty.
